All,

I am working hard on the "February 2016" maintenance build for SetupBuilder
10.

SetupBuilder is what you make of it. If you would like something added or
changed, please let me know. Is there anything else you would like us to
know? We welcome your feedback!

Thank you!

Friedrich,

One cosmetic thing I would like (actually, I would like it in my own
Clarion programs), is to be able to double-click on the line that
separates browse headers (e.g. in Files and Folders windows that show
file details) and have the column automatically resize to the width
based on the widest data in the column.

Like Windows Explorer, Excel, etc. does.

Ideally it would only do it when the cursor changes to the resize mode,
since the current behavior brings up the details box.

Thanks...jack

Hi Friedrich,

1. Show more projects on the main window! It can't hold all my projects;)

2. When you hit the compile button and you happen to be on a .sbi tab
it won't compile, tells you to switch tabs. Would be nice if it just
did it for me and compiled:)

3. Ability to set the fonts and width of the left and right hand panels
in the script editor. Currently we can set the font for the editor, but
not the other two panels. My eyesight is not what it used to be:(

4. Improve the index in the help. For example the word "pragma" is
used in 10 topics, but are not in the index. "#pragma" is, but not
"pragma" "SHA" is not in the index, but listed in 4 topics.

5. Show the path to the code sign. cert. - posted recently:)

6. Option to automatically write scripts while I take a nap...

Best regards,

In V10 the Start Page already increased the number of recent projects from
10 to 20 items (it was not a trivial task to change it). The "Pick" dialog
can display up to 100 projects now.

But I'll see if it is possible to add a scroll up/down mechanism.

Unfortunately, this would be a hefty 600+ MB set of redistributables. So
it's nearly impossible to handle it as a Core PreRequisite. And it is not
easy to deploy later versions of MSSQL automatically (a lot of fine tune is
required). For example, programmatically enabling .NET Framework 3.5 on
newer operating systems is impossible (for SQL 2014). About 40% of all
SetupBuilder script writing consulting projects are for MSSQL. It's a
nightmare.

To be honest, I have absolutely no idea, sorry :-(

But I remember that last year (or in late 2014) one of our customers created
a silent VPN Client installer with SetupBuilder. It processed automatically
without any inputs from the user. But I don't know if this is even related
to your VPN thing. He had to start/stop a software and start/stop a tunnel.
He developed the script in SetupBuilder 8.x - I was not directly involved in
that. I just answered some SetupBuilder related questions.

Dear Friedrich!

In Options, file locations, digital signature, the path to the .pfx file.
As most uf us uses signtool.exe today, it will be handy.

Perhaps that i just dont't know how.

To get down to the last compiler directives takes time. Perhaps a
possibility of adding the frequently used scripts in a group.

Best regards

In the next SB maintenance build there will be a new "global" IDE option
(not my idea <g>, a big thanks to Lee).

( ) Use SHA configuration from project
( ) Global SHA-1 only [--this is new--]
( ) Global SHA-2 only [--this is new--]
(*) Global SHA-1 & SHA-2 dual [--this is new--]

Global .PFX Certificate : ________________________________
Global .PFX Password : ________________________________
Global SHA-1 Timestamp Server: ________________________________
Global SHA-2 Timestamp Server: ________________________________

If the above IDE configuration is set to a "Global" option then the compiler
uses the global configuration instead of the per-project settings.

On the settings window "General Information", I wish it were easier to
navigate the tabs rather than having to click that little scroll
thingy (or pressing Ctrl+Tab).

If the window and the sheet (not neccesarily the controls on the tabs)
could be re-sized so that there's less scrolling to do, that would be
really helpful to me. Or even a droplist with the tab names on it.

Agreed - those buttons are small and I easily miss them. I think they
are just the regular Clarion tab scrolling buttons though...

However you *can* double click on an item in the droplist (see
screenshot) and it opens on that tab

I.e. if I click on the "Installer Background" it opens the window on the
"Installer Style" tab.

It's a special control I developed 10+ years ago in Clarion to imitate the
Visual Studio style. Under the hood a (very) complex thing.

Ok, first, I haven't dug into this yet.. but I'd really like a way that
when I make an update install (that uses wupdate or wucheck) that I
could easily add a message.. so when my customer goes to check for the
update, it would display that message... like: "This is version 4.8
which includes some stuff.. blah blah, would you care to update?".

Also easier access to sign wupdate or wucheck automatically (like I said
I haven't looked into this so if it's already there.. great.

Thanks again for your great product.
