View Full Version : Anyone else have SB problems with Kaspersky?

When running an SB generated installer on a machine with Kaspersky Internet
Security, it crashes.
Running the same install on a machine with Eset or Avast, there is no
problem.
Does anyone else know of this? Is there a known solution?

Hi Sim,

Are you using the latest SetupBuilder and have a proper code signing
certificate, manifest, etc?

Our SetupBuilder 10 created installers have given us no problems at all on
machines protected by Kaspersky.

Latest SB, sadly no.
Code signing and manifest, yes.
Thanks, will contact LinderSoft.

I've had trouble with Kaspersky on some machines lately... for me it was
the update I believe. I had to turn off Kaspersky to get my update to
work. I have the latest SB and double code sign.

Thanks. Good to know, no longer feeling lonely!
I now also disable Kaspersky, with success.

The "Program Compatibility Assistant" always causes trouble.

Here are some interesting background information:
http://www.lindersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?39913

Because the application is not compatible with the Windows operating system,
Windows runs it in "compatibility mode" with absolutely unknown side
effects. In your case, Kaspersky does some "real-time" monitoring (e.g. it
injects itself into the running process) and this brings the whole system
down. So the main problem here is the "incompatible" application and not
Kaspersky per-se.

I doubt it was the same thing Sim. There was a period of time (weeks?)
that Kaspersky gave a false positive for a particular Setupbuilder
update.
