Hello,

1) When I downloaded and installed SetupBuilder 5 - I ended up with
Developer and Professional installed. Which one do I use?

2) When I click on Check for Updates. I get a message "sbuilder.exe is
currently running. Please close the SetupBuilder IDE and click OK to
continue" - Can I recommend removing the word "IDE" and changing it to
"Program". Any novice user has no clue what "IDE" means.

Also, this is what appeared after I downloaded the update.

See attached. :-) I know I have to hit finish - but this screen surely
looks like it is missing telling me that I am finished.

Robert,

Hmm, can you reproduce this? I have never seen this before. Quite a few
users updated to the latest build but I have not received a similar bug
report.

Are you running XP?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Hi,

Running XP Professional - SP2

I believe it is a Clarion issue, not a SB issue ... as I think the system
didn't paint the screen. Hmmmmmmm.

Robert,

We have developed our own setup compiler so it's not a Clarion issue.

When did that happen? Did you download the *FULL* SB5 Pro build #1130, or
did you press "Check for Updates" from within your SB5 Pro build #1124?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Robert,

1) Did you install both SB5 Developer #1030 and Pro #1030?

2) I agree! I will change this, thank you.

Yes, I found I had a very old beta version of one - and removed it.

But, how did I get that version. :-) hmmmmm .... I know I purchased
something from you in the past .... Is Professional or Developer with more
features? If so, what version am I permitted to have?

-Robert

Robert,

All early beta versions were Developer Editions.

You are a licensed SB5 Pro user. In addition to all functions found in
SetupBuilder 5.0 Professional, the Developer Edition provides advanced
features such as WebInstall and WebUpdate (live update) for creating dynamic
Internet-based installations (powered by iDeploy), Integrated Visual
Debugger, multi-language support, customizable Uninstaller, MultiVersion
file updater (multi-version patch), Delayed File Install support, Windows
Services support, Serial Number Generator, built-in support for Authenticode
Digital Signatures, HTTP Post and File Downloading functions, AutoUpdate
Generator, Online Registration, Serial Number Generator, Dynamic Scanning,
Zip and Unzipping, built-in installation support for SoftVelocity's IP Data
Server (IPDS), MapDrive and NetShare functions, and specific compiler
directives.

Thanks,
Friedrich

I pressed Check for Updates. It ran. While it was running, I went to
another window to do something else. When I came back, that is all I saw on
my screen.

So, that is why I think it is a screen painting issue.

The problem is that even the dialog title is empty.

Just to be on the safe side...

1. You pressed "Check for Updates"
2. A wizard told you there was a new version available.
3. You pressed OK to download the new installer
4. A message told you that SB5 is active and asked you to
terminate the IDE.
5. The installer updated your system
6. Bang... empty dialog, right?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Exactly - you are thinking the same as me.

It said to close down the Setupbuilder IDE ... I pressed ok about 20 times
till I figured out I had to do it myself. :-) --- Then I closed it down.
Then, it ran .... while it was running, I went into Outlook Express.

I came back and I found that screen on my computer ... so I pasted it in
PaintBrush cuz I knew you wanted to see it.

That's about it. The update installed and applied successfully by the way
without issues.

Robert,

Did you "minimize" the WebUpdate wizard dialog?

Hi

I also experience this under XP SP2, but thought it was the typical
Clarion repaint/refresh problem and so did not mention this before.

If the installation is busy downloading and you open any window that
overlaps partial or completely the setupbuilder window, that part of the
setupbuilder window (the client area of the window) does not get repainted.

I have never noticed if the title bar was blank or not.

Kind Regards

Ben
