View Full Version : Install will not run

I have a new laptop, Dell Vostro 1000, with XP Home. It is not connected to
the Internet. When I attempt to install from a CD that works on all my
other computers:

"16 Bit MS-DOS Subsystem

D:\Setupe~5.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\BOBLAN~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\

A tempory file needed for initialization could not be found, be created or
could not be written to.

Make sure directory path exists, and space is available.

Close to terminate the application."

I can tell what the path is supported to be but I have "c:\documents and
settings\bob langer\local settings\temp". Which I am thinking is what the
message is indicating it can not find.

I Googled 16 bit... and found a registry fix but it did not work.

I am able to autostart and install from other CDs, just not mine.

Does anyone have any advise?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

I don't have any advise. But this issue is not related to SetupBuilder.

The registry fix is for 16-bit programs, but SetupBuilder applications are
native 32-bit executables. Something on that machine is broken (CD-ROM
drive, driver, ???, etc.). The SetupBuilder installer itself does not make
use of a 16-bit component.
