View Full Version : Code signing fails

My code signing has suddenly stopped working.

I am using SB 6.7.2083 and the file I am trying to code sign exists. All my
settings are correct. It is telling me that the code signing has failed on
every file I try., The file is not in use elsewhere.

What I do note in this latest version is that when the SB scripting engine
runs and the code signing generator is working, it flashes up a window and
the password was always entered using a series of black dots. That now does
not happen and the password seems to be being entered as a space. That of
course would fail.

Is this a bug?

BTW I am using the same script that worked on previous versions of SB.

Many thanks

John

Hi John,

No, not a bug :) If it previously worked, "something" changed on your
system (protection software update, Windows update, etc.).

You have several options:

See this (old but still valid) message:

http://www.lindersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2170&highlight=pkey.exe

BTW, if the shipped pkey.exe does not work, move from SignCode to
Signtool.exe. Microsoft does not allow to redistribute this file, so please
check the following link:

http://www.lindersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2202

And this one (see "Obtaining the Microsoft Code Signing Files")

http://www.wiscocomputing.com/articles/code-signing.htm

Hope this helps!

John,

And of course, make sure the timestamp server is accessible (if you support
that feature) and that you are using a valid (not expired) certificate.

Case has been closed. The certificate expired on 1/1/2008.

Authenticode code-signing does not work if a certificate expired.

Absolutely!!!

Warning to all - Comodo does NOT send any reminders. I had "forgotten" that
I only purchased a 12 month license last year. Now I have purchased a 3 year
license and saved an awful lot by using Friedrichs service.

Thank you
