Hi Friedrich,

After updating a client machine with the webupdater about 3 or 4
times, my client all of a sudden get's "No application associated
with..." message (or something to that effect). When he ran the
wupdate.exe directly it worked and ran, but it seems that it didn't
update the program. I have no idea what may have gone wrong. It
works here without problems when I tried to update my client side of
it.

What exactly fails when this message comes up?

I found why that happened - my fault<g> This is on the machine we
keep the source to the program that I develop. So I compile on it if
I need to and apparently I had left a shortcut on his desktop pointing
to the exe in the development directory, not in the deployment
directoy.

It would be interesting to know the answer to this question though:)

Arnór,

The WebUpdate client can work with an unlimited number of applications. If
you configure the WebUpdate client, it writes the installation path to the
registry. This installation path points to a specific registry key that
holds more information (version, web address, etc.).

If your wupdate.exe is located in, say, c:\test then wupdate.exe tries to
read a c:\test\wupdate.exe registry key (to get more information). If you
have installed wupdate.exe to c:\test, but you start wupdate.exe from
c:\newtest, you'll get the "No application associated with..." message
because c:\newtest is unknown.
