Friedrich,

I was under the impression that the deployment manager/distribution
wizard (or whatever the name was/is) would be part of SB5, is it there
somewhere, or has that been pushed back to a later version?

Thanks!

Kelly,

It's completely removed. The disk-image splitting option can be found under
"Generator Settings". All files are created in a separate folder now. So
you can use your favorite FTP software to upload the file(s) to your web
server and your favorite CD/DVD burning software to write it to CD-R/DVD.

Thanks,
Friedrich

No chance of filters in SB4 on the file list like we had in SB4?

Make that "No chance of filters in SB5 on the file list like we had in
SB4?"

Mark,

For my own clarification, I'm not sure I follow what you are asking.

I ask as I am helping Friedrich put together some tutorials. Migration from
earlier releases would apply (if not put in the FAQ section <g>).

In SB4, you can click on the file list (top right quarter of files/folders
screen) and right click to filter the view so you dont have to scroll
through thousands of files to find the dll and exe's (for example).

In SB5, this feature does not exist.

Gotcha. Will leave that for Friedrich for now. ;-)

I was thinking of something else anyway. I think <g>.

You can, of course, click Type on the file list header and then applications
(exe) and application extension (DLL) files will be grouped together.

When there are pages of the file type in question (not always dll/exe),
that doesnt help much, unfortunately.

Mark,

It will not be part of the final 5.00, but it's on the drawing board for the
next version.

Upgrade from 1130 dev to 1193 (yes, I've been shying away from upgrades for
a while <g>) about 55 seconds by cable modem.

Just so I understand - the checkbox for enabling Clarion support is only
required for people writing Clarion add-ons who need to detect Clarion
versions and register stuff?

Friedrich,

Hi, Friedrich,
Just noticed it, the "recent list" pick up list seems to be short
somewhere. It shows many files, but I cannot select one below a certain
limit (see the attached picture). It just do nothing (no errors, but it
doesn't open the file either). The file is there, and if I go by "open",
it opens. After open other files, while go down the list, at certain
point I cannot open it again. It seems like a short variable somewhere.

Yes, this is correct. If you need access to the "If Clarion..." or
"Register Clarion Templates..." functions, mark the "Enable Clarion Support"
checkbox.

Hi, Friedrich.
Another question...
I have this network with a Windows 2000 Server and 8 Windows XP Pro SP2
workstations (logging as guest) and 1 Windows 2000 profesional workstation
(logging as guest also).
The system were up and running, made with clarion 6.2 9046.
I succesfully patched the system to a newer version, I checked it running
on the server, It runs. I only changed EXEs and DLLs files.
Suddenly, the users called me: the system do not run on the XP machines
(saying the user has no permission), but YES in the Windows 2000 pro
machine.
But the big surprise is that if the users log as "administrator" instead of
"guest", then the program run!
I revert the patch to the previous version, and all run again as before.
I'm not saying it's something provoqued by SB, but do you (or anyone else)
have a clue on what's going on? Any idea? I wish I don't have to give
administrator privileges to all the users to just allow the program to
run... The program don't use any local resource, BTW, it's all in the
server. If I see the files with Win explorer, the "exe" files don't show an
icon... like if it were an unknow exe format. But it works fine at the
server and from the Win2000 workstation.

You may need to enable the local guest user account on the XP machine.

Just a thought that caught me out once....

Jorge,
It's most likely file/share permissions or Registry permissions.
Is the server drive NTFS or FAT?
What are the NTFS permissions on the server folder(s)?
What are the share permissions on the server share?
Are you sharing just your program's folder, or mapping to the root of the
drive?
What Registry keys are you writing to/reading ?
Are you using Armadillo version 4.20?

Hello, Jane.

It is NTFS.

> What are the NTFS permissions on the server folder(s)?

None especial permissions that I'm aware. I just put the C drive as
shared (the whole drive). The drive is mapped as, for example, G: on the
workstations.
It certeanly looks like I'm loosing permissions to the exes when I update
them, but I cannot imagine how.

> What Registry keys are you writing to/reading ?

None!

> Are you using Armadillo version 4.20?

No, just plain Clarion exes.

Well, Jorge... logging on using the guest account isn't the best idea
anyway. Windows disables it by default... for a reason.

What exactly is the message you get?
On a XP service pack 2 machine, if I enable the guest account and try to log
in, I get a message saying "the local policy of this system does not permit
you to logon interactively".

Your alternatives are not just "administrator" or "guest"
I assume you're not using an Active Directory domain.
Try creating an ordinary user account on the server. Call the account
Jorge. Log onto the server using that account and see if you can use your
software.
Then create an account called Jorge on one of the user machines. Set its
password to be the same as the Jorge password on the server. See if you can
run your software from the workstation.
