I´ve been using Web Update without problems hosting the files in my own
computer and accessing it tru no-ip. Web update was working ok during the
lasts months.

Then I rent a Web Hosting, registered my own domain www.armi.com.ar , build
my firt web site, etc , etc

I´ve recompiled my SB script with the new host data, ask it to upload the
files for me via FTP... no problem.
But when I want to Update the app, I obtain the following error:

www.armi.com.ar/Downloads/Willi6Web.00001 can ot be found...
hit ok and...
comunication error 5060

I´ve verified the files are there
What can I do to solve it?

Regards
Alberto

Hi

Had this problem about 3 years ago.... I can just remember that the mime
types were not there...

Can not remember how to set it up, but it should be in the lindersoft user
groups messages somewhere ...

See the forums on lindersoft,com

I´ve serched and found to

Mark the "IIS/Windows 2003 Image" checkbox (iDeploy Web Installation view).

I´ve marked it, recompile, upload again and I´m geting the same error but
with del fillowing file:

Willi6Web_00001

Any other idea??

Hi Alberto,

You are running IIS, right ;-) Try to download the file(s) via Internet
Explorer and I bet you'll also get an error message. You have a MIME type
problem. What Ben said. Just add the correct MIME types and you are done.

Hope this helps.

Friedrich,
Yes, I cant download this files but I can download .exe files
I dont know how to do that mime thing, the files are uploaded to a hosted
server and I dont have any admministrative access to it.
Is it possible to you (as you rename the files from .00001 to _00001) rename
it and use it with a .exe extension?, something like... FILENAME_00001.exe
? That willl solve everybodies problem.
And if not, any other idea?
Thanks
Alberto

Hi Alberto,

You have to check this with your host provider. It's not a SetupBuilder
problem!

You have a MIME type for .exe and so you can download the .exe via Internet
Explorer. But you cannot download the cluster files via Internet Explorer,
right ;-) And I am sure you are also unable to download files that do not
have an extension at all because your MIME type configuration does also not
allow this.

You should have a web server control panel where you can change it.

Hope this helps.

I´m not saying its a SB problem at all !
I´m only suggesting that, if the SB extension were a common extension
normaly used by all the hostings without changing anything, without making
calls, without posting the same problem again and again in the forum, etc.
it will contribute to save the planet and the reduce global heat. :-)
If its not possible at all then I'll need to contract a more expensive host
plan because my actual plan does not include mime.
Thanks again Friedrich

Hi Alberto,

The problem is, what would be such a "common extension" in your case <g>.
..txt, .ini, etc.? IMO, it is *NOT* a good idea to give binary cluster files
an .exe or .txt extension.

SetupBuilder allows you to create cluster files that do not have an
extension at all. But as I understand it, your provider does also not allow
this, right?

right, it seems it only allow .exe extensions... or you have to upgrade your
plan

Hi Alberto,

Okay, but this would really result in a complete confusion because cluster
files are not "executables".

Yes, but these files are never seen by the final user, its confused but its
very usefull.
You can add a check box like de IIS/2003 and it could say...

Disguise the cluster files as .exe files (Alberto´s fault) :-))

Beside a huge professional you are really a friend...
Thanks

I have to check if this is possible. But it would require a rewrite of
parts of the compiler, so it's impossible to add this to SetupBuilder 6.7
(stable status). SetupBuilder 6.7 is absolutely rock solid, so maybe in
SetupBuilder 7...

Alberto,

If you consider this to be a problem for you as it IS NOT a SB problem at
all but one of your ISP's, I offer you some space to host your files on one
of my servers for FREE

You will be able to have your clients update your SB installs like this

I am sorry but your approach to your problem is not really a good one : for
a question of pennies (or maybe a few dollars a month) you create all this ?

let us be serious please ....

My offer stands of course : send me a private email and I'll arrnage that
for you monday

Friedrich, problem solved....

will add a domain name in my offer to solve your problem ....

Jean-Pierre,
I am serious. I´m not trying to bother nobody, specially Friedrich.
Just talking to him looking for as possible solution.
I'm not proud of not having these few pennies and I dont need you to show
and explain this to all people.

Alberto,

Forget about the few pennies : that is too difficult to solve for SB and we
are a community no ?

What is some space when you have a server ? nothing
etc ...

so please .... pb closed .... and just let me have your needs and I'll
handle that tomorrow
This is the only solution for this type of problem ....

Nobody reads these posts so you are safe :)

Hi

EVERYONE has problems with pennies.. do not feel alone....

If I were you, I would take Jean-Pierre's offer immediately until such time
as you are able to do it yourself.

As Jean-Pierre says, we are a community and we help each other. Some people
take advantage and try to make lots of money off new people or people that
does not know so much, but others are here to really help.

Asking Friedrich to change SB is not the solution....

Kind Regards

Ben

Hi Alberto,

For what it's worth we had the exact problem just about a week ago.
Instead of hassling with my hosting service (shared hosting) we just
switched over to Linux hosting (there was no particular reason why I needed
Windows) and it worked as soon as it was switched. So that may be a quick
option if you wanted to keep your existing hosting provider. For our site
it took only 2 hours to switch to Linux but can take up to 2 days depending
on the service.

I hope that helps.
