View Full Version : Web install

Hi Friedrich,

I have a install script where I would like to build BOTH the web
install and the regular install. When I check the "Enable Web
installation" in creates the update, when I uncheck it, it creates the
normal install. Since I'm updating almost every file every time, I
figured I could use the same install, but I don't seem to be able to
control that setting. I don't see anythin in the install script
change when I toggle this switch...

I'd rather not have to maintain two identical scripts where the only
change is that one checkbox<g>

Any ideas?

Hi Arnór,

In SetupBuilder 7, you'll be able to control this via a "Release".

It's not possible to do this in SetupBuilder 6 - it's only one checkbox, but
behind the scenes there are quite a few different technologies involved <g>.

Cool:) I was just looking at this as I'm breaking it out into a
webupdate and figured I was going to update all the files anyway<g>
Since the major exe/dlls will always be updated I don't really see a
reason to not just use the same thing.

BTW: Did you get an email from me Monday? No rush in reply, just
wondered if you had received it:)

As Friedrich said, in the current version you have to run it twice.

You don't need two scripts (if your running from within the Visualizer),
just run the compile for the full install and it will create the one-piece
EXE in the output folder.

Then check the box for the web install and run it again and it will create
the small exe and cluster files in a \web folder under the same folder
where the one-piece exe was created.

That may not work with your driving scripts externally with BA though.

Of course SB7 will provide a better way to deal with it.

;-)

That's exactly the point - I can't do it with one script:) Not a big
deal since the install is very simple.
