I ahve a Vista user that gets the attached message before the installation
finishes.

I've tried the exact file on XP and Windows 2000 machines.

Any ideas why this might happen?

He reports no other messages are given.

The user just reported that when turning Virus Protection off this error was
solved.

I am getting the AV maker and version now.

Be nice if SB could somehow report something else about why it need to
stop....but perhaps that is not possible.

Hi Mike,

I am sure the installer displayed an error message box with an error code
before that final dialog.

Mike,

BTW, I remember that you are using the "Delayed File Install" feature in one
of your installations. If this is the case for this install, then the
following change in the latest build skips the error message box (if a file
is locked)

CHANGE : Installer: When using the "Delayed File Install" feature and if
an installation fails, the installer does not display a
"Decompression Error -1001" error dialog box any longer.

The behavior is new so that is probably the cause.

Thank you!

He was using

McAfee Internet Security Suite

For what it's worth. I was using McAfee Internet Security Suite for a few
years until about 2 weeks ago. As time went on I, here recently, began to
experience "odd" behavior of certain things. My take on the problems I had
is that McAfee became "too aggressive". I switched back to SystemSuite 8 by
Avanquest (who recently bought out V-Com) and those problems went away. In
particular, all Clarion stuff ran a bunch faster along with just about
everything else on my XP and Vista PCs.

IMO, it is a step back if the installer does not report what went wrong in
this case. I think we should revert the change.
