It's time for another short development status update to keep you up to date
with what's been happening and what's coming up.
The good news is that the SetupBuilder user base continues to increase
rapidly. Today we are in a better position than ever to continue our
research and development work and produce ground breaking installation
authoring systems. More and more companies are realizing that SetupBuilder
delivers a perfect fusion of installation authoring, web deployment,
configuration management, and scripting technologies.
We are working on the SetupBuilder 6.x and 7.x projects concurrently. That
means that SetupBuilder 6 is still in active development and improving!
SetupBuilder 6.8 is rock solid stable and reliable. It already includes
preliminary support for Windows 7 OS detection and we expect to release
additional maintenance releases in July and August. Development on the
SetupBuilder 7 product line is going well and things are already looking
pretty good, but there's still a lot to do. SetupBuilder 7 is focusing on
evolution, not revolution. In any engineering project, be it a Boeing 747
or a software product, there comes a point where it becomes worthwhile to
take a step back, and listen to your customers; they'll tell you what they
need, what works best and what doesn't work as well. We want to continue
to be part of your success and hope that these "evolutionary changes" help
show that we listen, and respond, to our customers.
