In the good old days, it was done via the autorun.inf file, with an entry of
RUN=setup.exe

It does not seem to work any longer under Vista

How to ensure, that my setup starts when the CD is put into the PC?

Edvard,

autorun.inf works fine under Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Have fun in Berlin :)

Well, more often than not My CD's won't start on new machines.
Last was a brand new Dell Latitude.
Nothing was installed - Just run the intro.
Even that machine won't autorun CD's
But, as i understand it, the way to make autorun is still autorun.inf?

Yes, autorun.inf works on all modern Windows OS versions (including Vista
and 2008). But I assume, AutoRun is disabled on that machine(s).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDRom should not be 0

Sounds as if some CD-burning software may twiddle some bits.

On my 64-bit Vista machine, that NoDriveTypeAutorun is set to 255 (all bits
set) in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
