Hi, does someone know how to zip the file created by SB prior to
upload to the FTP server.

My websitedoes not allow an .EXE file to be up/downloaded for security
reasons.
I always can zip the file after being created by SB and then send it,
but I would prefer to be able to do it from the compile options of SB.

I cannot find info on this in the doc

using developper edition here.

thanks

What you can do is, you can use the "#zip file..." compiler directive to
zip-up your setup.exe. Then use "#ftp upload..." to upload the newly
created zip to the FTP server. Make sure you have marked the "Process after
script compilation" checkbox option in both directives.

Does this help?

Didier,

I see that Friedrich has already given you the answer, however...

Pay attention to the upcoming announcement of SetupCast (NOT officially
released yet) by LANSARD (Charles Edmonds)

http://www.setupcast.com/
(this web site will be fully developed soon with the latest information)

"SetupCast automates the task of keeping your website updated with accurate
information about your software distribution. It does this by merging
information about the release with HTML/XML templates and publishing the
output to your website. It can also upload the actual distribution files
for your software to help keep everything synchronized."

The types of content generated by SetupCast include:
* Full Installer Information
* Web Based Installation Information
* Web Update Information
* RSS Feeds for Download Information and Update Notices
* A Links Page (which pulls all the different information into a single web
page)

It's an amazing automating tool to take some of the drugery out of
distribution methods for software delivery (INCLUDING Automatic Zip File
Creation), ADD amazingly informative specific results about your latest
releases and update information before they install, and keep then informed
through RSS feeds.

AND has direct support for SetupBuilder users to make the whole process
even more automated and more powerful still!

Mike,

OK, I'll inform Charles he has to work THAT much harder to convince you
that what he has developed is SO significantly more productive that even
developers who have already devised a plan will see the immediate benefit
of the SetupCast tool! :-D

Thanks David,

I am happy with what I have now.

I can use SB for the couple of programs developped for general use or
the CHT web servers for all updates and distributions. Actually the
package created by SB are send via CHT :-) what a great worl.

Didier,

OK, there ARE a FEW out there that are happy with their present strategy -

PRE - SetupCast

However, wait for the comments start to roll in after SetupCast release and
many developers are using it in full swing for their software distribution.

It could change "Just happy" to "Ecstatic!" :-D
