There are plans to not allow unsigned applications to run on Win8.
But I can assure you, this is not only with Comodo. All WebTrust companies
(agencies) follow the very same validation process (which is a nightmare).
This is not "their" validation process. And even Lindersoft (as a Comodo
partner) has to go through the very same process. We had to send all kind
of documentation.
BTW, and we had the same trouble with VeriSign (we needed a VeriSign
certificate and they never accepted our documents). So in the end, we were
unable to take part in the Windows Logo program because we did not receive
the certificate.
So the only advice I can give in this situation is to always be nice to them
and send whatever they want <g>. Otherwise, they will not issue the
certificate!!! I know of three companies who lost quite a few $$,$$$
because the WebTrust "agency" did not issue the required certificate and
they were unable to ship the software for months.
BTW, the major WebTrust agencies issue 500 certificates per hour, so they do
not care at all. And from my experiences, Comodo is the most nice WebTrust
on earth (no joke)!

Re: Comodo Hell
I can vouch for the Verisign "problem" Fredrich had <vbg>
I can also advice to always go to the extends they ask as it IS WELL
worth it
For "anecdotal" info : when I needed my verisign certificate to be
Microsoft verified I had to ask (and he very nicely obliged) a US
friend to have his address confirmed by a "lawer" of sort special sort
so as to compell to "standards"
(if I remember well his company was not listed in the yellow pages or
something stupid thing like this and they requested a "terstified"
address "paper")

Re: Comodo Hell
I was a bit put off by the MS Logo program. Verisign is the only cert they
accept, as if no other trusted agent is good enough. My program passed their
initial exam (including the install <g>). Seems $99 is a bit steep to get a
certificate you plan on using only once.

Re: Comodo Hell
Have to agree there. I actually had little issue getting my cert. I think it
took me 2 days. I'm just so glad I decided to go for the 3 year option as I do
not want to go through that every year.
I'm hoping that when I renew, there won't be that same issue where you can only
get the file via XP.

It took me 2 days (but I missed one of their calls on the first day).
This guy made it in under 8 hours.

I got mine the same day I ordered it this past June... and downloaded it on
a Vista-64 machine.

Re: Comodo Hell
Good to know. So does not matter now which OS we use to get the certificate?

Re: Comodo Hell
It does and it doesn't.
Using Vista, I had to download the certificate to the "store" on the
machine, then export it to a pfx file.
One extra step, but not too onerous and I was curious to see how it would
work.
When I have time, I'll update that PDF I did for Friedrich with some screen
shots from my June adventure with Comodo.

I would appreciate it. That article of yours ensured that everything went smooth
here.
