Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
An old client is being acquired and our setup and update directories need to be moved to their new system.
Everything has gone as smoothly as could be expected BUT the number of cluster files is causing them to set permissions to every new extension.
If I set the web update to use an IIS Server Image, the numbered portion is appended with an underscore but then the extension is left blank. They don't allow blank extensions.
I checked through the wupdate script but don't see where that is being done (I'm probably in the wrong place)
Is there a way that I could set the cluster file extension to something? Maybe txt or upd - anything so that I don't have contact their (slow) IT folks whenever we push out a new cluster file number?
Thanks any clues you might be able to give me, (even a link to an article that I haven't found yet)

Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
Hi Chris,
No, the cluster file extension can't be set. If you enable the "IIS Server Image" option then cluster files are generated without a file extension. We'll have to check if it is possible to add another option to set it to ".BIN" (instead of no file extension).

Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
Is this performed in the wupdate.sbp script?
Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
Hi Chris,
No, the wupdate.sbp and wucheck.sbp project files include the source codes for the wupdate.exe and wucheck.exe clients.
The idea is to add it to Web Deployment -> Enable Web Installation

Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
New ".bin File Extension" option added to the iDeploy Web Installation properties. This lets you generate cluster files in form of "yada_00001.bin", "yada_00002.bin", etc.

Of course.
I will continue to badger the IT guys for more mime types.
BTW - I've been using SB (seems like forever) and I've never had this issue come up before on my own web site.
Keep up the great work, Friedrich!

Hi Chris,
if you are interested, I can compile a pre-release for you so you can use the new feature.

Sure!, I'd be glad to test it out for you.
Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
Chris,
Please check your e-mail (pre-release link sent). Does this work for you?

Re: Cluster files- Can the extension be set?
Sorry, Friedrich, I've been tied up. I did get the email and compiled the setup with data - 35 cluster files.
They look perfect! Now I'm waiting for the IT guys to give me the all clear so I can test it.
I should hear from them in the morning.
