Sectigo Suck ! fka Comodo
I've had to get a code signing certificate in my personal name because
they can't validate my dba.
Same name for 20+ years.
Called the US number and you get someone in India. Impossible to
understand and had NO clue how to resolve the issue.
Also, they REQUIRE using IE - IE !

I just switched to a personal certificate as well for the same reason.

I talked to a rep and had no problems communicating with them. They were
quite helpful in getting things resolved after a website glitch during the
order process had not provided them with all the info they need.

That's true.
I used IE in a Windows 10 VM. However the last time I loaded it I noticed
that MS was saying even there that IE was definitely going away.
I'm not sure what the answer will be but I am sure that MS will come up
with something.
Right now IE is the only browser that can interact with the certificate
store on your PC so that is why it is used.
But since code signing is here to stay I am sure that MS will provide a new
tool and all certificate issuers will have to revise their sites and
methods to use it.

I know this doesn't help but DeveloperPLUS is a dba and I got mine. I
submitted a trouble ticket and attached copies of my business licenses
from the city, county and state. It took longer than the previous cert
but not too long.

What is a dba? You mean a DUNS record?

A dba means "doing business as"
In Lee's example it expands to:
"Lee White doing business as DeveloperPLUS"
Often used in cases where the individual is doing business under a business
name, but on the back end is a sole proprietor instead of a registered
business or a corporation. Also in cases where a registered company wants
to do business as another name.
Here is a link to the SBA (U.S. Small Business Administration) definition
for it:

Thanks Charles - I was wondering if it would affect us. You never know
with these things.

Thanks very much for the translation. 8-)
Around where I am, dba means Database Administrator...

Re: Sectigo Suck ! fka Comodo
Context, Carl!
I remember spending a month on Saipan and wondering why the buildings
all said NMI (non-maskable interrupt).
Apparently the silly people there thought that it meant Northern
Mariana Islands...

Same in these parts - all erstwhile British colonies.
Hence my request for clarity

No context outside of the US I am afraid. Seems to be an American thing.
