Weird registry Setting Behaviour
Hi All
I have some weird registry setting behavior that I am trying to debug.
Step 1. Install first app with SB. Registry setting perfect and icon
perfect.
Step 2. Install second app with SB. registry setting perfect and icon
perfect.
Step 3. Install third app with SB. bang - it trashes the registry
setting of the first app and uses the incorrect icon.
Is it possible that this third SB project is corrupt?
I have checked all the detail in it in detail and cannot see anything wrong.
Any ideas are welcome. Client starting to scream.
Cheers
Andre
Re: Weird registry Setting Behaviour
I have removed all registry changes with the third install and it still
trashes the registry settings for the first app :-(

Make sure your Product GUID is unique.
Make sure you're using a different key in edit the registry.

Product GUID is unique.
Different key in the registry.
Install first app - check registry key - perfect.
Install second app - check registry keys for both first and second app -
perfect.
Install third app that does not have any registry key in at all now -
trashes the first app registry key.
Going to rebuild the third install set from scratch. Maybe it is somehow
got bust. No indication anywhere though.

Use Process Monitor to monitor changes to this key and see exactly WHAT
is changing it. Is this the same machine where you ran into the lib
file being removed? If so, I would take a very close look at your AV.

Nope - testing install sets on other machines in the office. Nothing is
running on these machines when I test.

Re: Weird registry Setting Behaviour
Rebuilding the project sorted the trashing of the registry setting.

If the 3rd project file does *not* have any registry key in it then it can't
"trash" the registry. Did it trash a "per-machine" (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) or
a "per-user" registry?
Please send me that .sbp file and I will inspect the project.

Re: Weird registry Setting Behaviour
I took the registry setting command out of the script and it trashed a
per-user setting. I crapped the project and rebuilt it with the exact
same settings and it did not trash the settings. The only difference is
the new project is a .sbp project and the old one is a version 7
project. I will send you the old one.

LOL - that should have been scrapped.
