I didn't think of that. That would make future things easier or at least consistent. I recompiled WUPDATE_SLL and used my batch file to sign it. In the Redist directory.
My comment was more of a...
Friedrich - That worked perfectly!
Could it be that the distributed wupdate_ssl is signed twice?
Now, if the user checks for certificates, all the exe's will be signed the same.
Good luck with...
That sounds brilliant. I'll do that and give it a try.
Hi
I was so glad we got the code-signing working that I sent the update out last night.
This morning I had an email saying there is still a problem with this image...

Well, here's what happened.
With some changes to where the signtool exe is located, and my certificate being an OV rather than an EV (which made me a little nervous), my browser caching the test...
Thanks! I'll try that and let you know what happens.
Hi Friedrich,
I just realized that I replied to myself instead of you.
Responding to/Updating my initial post -
The signtool is working in that I can sign the generated setup program.
I use this command line -
"F:\path\...\signtool.exe" sign /sha1 "<mythumbprint>"...
That's sounds great!
I don't have an EV certificate, it's a standard one, but it still has the keys in the cloud.
Let me know whenever you're ready.
Hello,
Is there any way that SB could use the thumbprint of the certificate rather than the PFX and password?
Signtool works perfectly using the /SHA1 tag and the certificate thumbprint. Everything...
 Thanks
Hello, Friedrich
Great stuff so far - thanks!
Is there anything I can do with the dialogs to restyle them?
Resizing the images doesn't seem to help.
... and is there a PDF on what's...
@Rich F.
It isn't a %_Variable_% it is an $installer_flag$.
Use the Set installerflag command -
Set Installer Flag $SB_PRESERVE_BACKUPFILEEXT$ to "1"
You can look it up in the Help or PDF
I was going to ask about this but thought - wait I'm sure someone asked for this already. I searched the help and didn't find it.
Then I searched the forum and found it from 2005, so the answer to...
Hi,
This has been working flawlessly for so long, I want to just leave it alone so it will fix itself. Maybe it's a problem with one of the time stamps...
We produce a demo and full version of...
As interesting as your patch technique might be, and no matter how you couch it, if you are distributing a work around to a company's security, then you are distributing a crack to that software and...
MXToolbox.com does this and has a variety of tools.
Friedrich,
I rebuilt the installer using the plain Wupdate rather than the Wupdate-SSL
Changed my software to use that too and it seems to be working.
The SSL one worked here.

Hello,
I have an old user getting this error with a new setup I just sent.
When I searched it, here the answer (pretty much) was to update to ver 7  Maybe there is a new cause of the...
Generally, a proxy is used to hide your IP address so that bad guys (or good guys) don't know where you are and then using your address to stage an attack.
To be honest. this is the first time I've...
Thanks, Friedrich.
This is the first time in as many years as I've been producing these setups that I've had an issue with it. I feel I've gotten caught flat-footed.
We are going to update the...
Friedrich,
I have setup a proxy that works fine for the browser. I don't know what SB requires of a proxy, but it doesn't work through my Ubuntu TinyProxy. If you'd like to try it, I'll add an IP...
Friedrich,
Yesterday I watched the logs at the proxy. The log level is set to INFO so I can see everything that comes through.
So that makes this more interesting - when the install is given the...
Friedrich,
Email me if you want to use mine. I can add your IP address to the security.
