WebUpdate Network Errors

Friedrich,

Would it be possible to add more info about error 5060 (Network) in the
display for the end user?

I ran into the problem last week where the user had blocked it with their
firewall.

Since it is the most common webupdate error, maybe something like:

A Network Communictions Error (5060) has occured.
Possible causes include:
Firewall Blocking Application 'webupdate.exe'...
Website 'xyz.com' unavailable...

Paul,

You only have to add this to the ERR_INTERNET_COMMUNICATION text resource
and recompile the wupdate.sb5.

1. Copy \Redist\1033\wupdate.sb5 to, say, wupdate2.sb5
2. Open wupdate2.sb5
3. Select "Text and Messages" view
4. Modify "Misc Errors" -> ERR_INTERNET_COMMUNICATION text resource
5. Recompile (and distribute the new wupdate.exe to your clients)

Note: To use the new wupdate.exe in your initial web update installations,
copy wupdate.exe into the \Lib folder -or- make sure the "Include Web Update
Client" function points to the new wupdate.exe
