Thread: Suggestions for SB

    Default Suggestions for SB

    Hi Friedrich,

I would like to make the following suggestions for a future version of SB:

    1. When you do a Static Scan, it would be very helpful if the window was wider or resizable. Paths have gotten longer and the current window does not show the file names.

    2. When you do a Static Scan, just like you have an "Add" button, you should have an 'Add Missing' button that will only add files not already in your list of files.

    3. I just re-arranged my folder structure. It would have been nice to be able to just change that path of the files in my SB projects rather than have to re-select all the files and delete the ones with the old path.

    Thanks,
    Abe

I agree. Thank you for your suggestion.

Static Scan will never add the same file twice. So it is "Add Missing" by
    default.

Please see "Project" | "Covert File Source Paths". This will do it.

I guess I had the problem in the example (don't recall anymore) but I ended
    up with of each file.

Thanks. Will take a look. I wish I knew about this earlier, it would have
saved me a lot of time.

BTW, and see "Compiler Variables Best Practices" in the manual. You can
make your project completely machine independent by using this technique.

Yes! You can even have multiple compiler variables or a mix of compiler
    variables and "fixed" folders.

    For example:

    [SOURCEFOLDER]\Project\Yada
    [SOURCEFOLDER]\[PROJECT_VERSION]\Yada

We are using this method in all of our own projects and in all Script
    Writing Consulting projects.

And you can even use this in "Releases" or the "SKU" features to generate
completely different outputs from the same project file. This gives you a
maximum of flexibility. One of our customers generates about 1,000
different installs (one individual setup.exe for each of their stores) from
    the very same project.
