Thread: Code sign failure

  1. #1

    Question Code sign failure

I use my SetupBuilder script year in year out, but today it has suddenly failed at the final codesign stage with

Compiler error GEN1053 Code signing process failed. Error code:1

Can anyone tell me what this means and what to do about it?

(I've checked my certificate and it still has over a year to run.)

    Dave,

it's very well possible that the timestamp server is down (for maintenance or system failure) or not reachable. Try to switch to another one.

    Thanks Friedrich,

I actually wondered about that. I'm not in an enormous hurry but, if it persists, how do I find out what the alternatives are?

Please ignore previous question - just me being slow: I've found them on the drop-down.

The one I was using ("http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll") still failed today, but I switched at random to "http://timestamp.comodoca.com/authenticode" and now it compiles. (Odd though: I've been using SetupBuilder with that timestamp URL for well over a decade and never had this problem before.) Anyway, thanks again for your help.
