Thread: Puzzle with exporting Code Signing Certificate

Default Puzzle with exporting Code Signing Certificate

    HI.
When I renewed my CSC I exported it to a .pfx as usual. But when I was
expecting it to ask me for the password from creating the private key,
    but it didn't.

Now my code signing fails with an Error 2.

Does this mean anything to anyone?
    Thanks.

No idea. I've never been able to export a private key out of Windows
    without specifying a password.
When you did your export, there was a radio you were able to select
for "yes, export the private key" ?

    Thanks for your reply Jane.

I even tried again to be sure, but yes I did select that option. It's
all very puzzling and I will clearly have to review the entire process.

Was I wrong in thinking that you had mentioned 'renewal' of CSCs? For
me it seems to be a new application process from nothing every time.

(This is always such a pain, but I was pleased to discover that we
could use Edge for the process if it was in "IE Mode". Or is that a
myth and actually causing me a problem!?)

    Cheers.

    Jane, just FYI.
No problem here, just forgot to change the Global Pasword
    Dang!

    YAY!

Too many "its" with undetermined antecedants, John!

I thought this meant that you were not asked for a password when you
exported the .pfx. But I gather this refers to a password at a
    different stage in the process.

So you DID export it with a password. And when you shared that bit of
information with SetupBuilder, the clouds parted and the sun shone!

    Excellent!

Ahh, well, it was a matter of the right area in Setupbuilder!
Now there I've put comments in the script to tell me to go to
    Tools/Options/Code Signing!

    There are clouds everywhere.

Thank you for your example, proving that it is indeed possible to code
    sign!
