Default New office, source code review, SetupBuilder 2023, ...

    Hello all,

sorry for my silence on NGs and social media. Life has been *more* than
busy and a lot has changed here during the pandemic. I am working from a
new office, running my own high-performance servers (Dell, Lenovo, Fujitsu)
to power my software development and to host customer projects. I am using
a new hybrid development and test environment (my own "cloud" and
"on-premise" infrastructure) based on VMWare Workstation and ESXi to support
all kind of Windows versions (95 - Server 2022). What a steep learning
    curve.

COVID-19 provided the opportunity to reinvent myself. While working on the
SetupBuilder code base and consulting projects, I have improved my software
programming, project management and computer networking skills.

SetupBuilder is more than a million lines of code, written in Clarion,
TopSpeed C, Visual Studio and MASM. Remember, I developed some of the core
functions back in 1998! To take the SetupBuilder product to the next level,
I have to inspect each and every line of source code. To overcome the 2GB
installation size limit, I had to completely rewrite the underlying LSPack
technology. This was not a trivial task, because it requires 64-bit
processing in 32-bit components (for maximum OS backward compatibility).

To cut a long story short, a first public version of the new "SetupBuilder
2023" will be released on April 03, 2023. I have completely rewritten most
components. We'll have support for files and installs > 2GB, a modern
installer style, a new redistributable concept (Microsoft revamped the
underlying method drastically) including support for Windows 11 Arm-based
machines, and more. We have some of the new SetupBuilder components running
in 24/7/365 environments at the moment to test its stability.

BTW, we have renamed "SetupBuilder Developer Edition" to just
"SetupBuilder". It can co-exist with older versions on the same machine and
is fully backward compatible to previous builds!

I'll keep you all posted :-)

Brilliant. Nothing like a good dose of housekeeping.

    Looking forward to the release.
