Certum's cloud solution uses the SimplySign platform, which replaces physical cryptographic cards with a virtual one in the cloud. You can use it from anywhere and at any time. Private keys are stored in Certum's HSM (Hardware Security Modile)-protected cloud (a tamper-resistant device meeting FIPS 140-2 standards), reducing the risk of key theft from local devices.
SetupBuilder 2025 fully supports (Certum) Cloud Code Signing.
Start the SetupBuilder 2025 Integrated Development Environment (IDE). If you have not configured code-signing yet, select "Help" > "Get SignInstall for SetupBuilder". This will automatically download and install the required service files.
1. Locate the Certificate Thumbprint
Open certmgr.msc (Certificate Manager) and navigate to Personal > Certificates. Look for your Certum Code Signing certificate (e.g., issued to your company name). Double-click the certificate, go to the Details tab, and scroll to the Thumbprint field. It's a 40-character hexadecimal string. Copy this value.
2. In the SetupBuilder 2025 IDE, open Tools > Options... and select the Code-Signing tab. Paste the Thumbprint to the "Software Publisher Certificate" entry field.
Select a SHA-2 Timestamp Server and select the "Software Publisher Certificate auto configuration" option.
3. Enable Digital Signature in "General Information".
4. Start the compilation process and SimplySign Desktop connects you to the cloud certificate when you authenticate with the mobile app token. This will unlock the cloud-stored key for ~2 hours.
