    Default First Vista encounter

    Good day,

I built an SB6 install of a Clarion 6.3EE exe and three tps files, and a friend installed it on her Vista system just fine. Later I sent an update, adding a couple of columns to one of the files, again of the exe and the three files, and after installation got a good old error 47. (Installing the same update on an XP machine worked fine.) The data file in question on her machine is correct, so I'm guessing I've collided with something in Vista.

    Appreciate any help,

    Hello,

Is this a SetupBuilder or Clarion question?

    Thanks,
    Friedrich

    I assume it's a Clarion question.

IMO, your application is not Vista-aware and so virtualization kicked in under Vista. Where is your TPS database file located? Is your application Vista-aware?

The files are located in the same directory as the exe. The application is not Vista-aware - sorry, I'll head in that direction. Thanks so much for your help, Friedrich.

    Blessings,

    Maury,

    You are very welcome.

Yes, then it's caused by the TPS location and the fact that your app is not Vista-aware. It happens if a *legacy* (not Vista-aware) application is used on Windows Vista or Server 2008. Because such a legacy application does not know anything at all about Vista/2008, virtualization kicks in and redirects all files to the virtual folder.
