Thread: Wupdate problem

  1. #1

    Default Wupdate problem

I have changed my local wupdate.sbi to not check for IDEPLOY.CLI and to
    check for MYAPP.INI.

However, when I actually run setup, IDEPLOY.CLI is created and MYAPP.INI is
not. I have searched both my program setup script and the wupdate script
and can find no place where I can control this.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Bob,

IDEPLOY.CLI is a fixed name if you are using the "Store Properties in INI
File" Web Update option. You cannot change this.

    Friedrich,

Ah, ok. Any chance this will ever change?

    Thanks,

    Bob,

It would not be a problem to make IDEPLOY.CLI "variable" in a future build.
I think it would only take 10-15 minutes to add it. But if you change the
standard IDEPLOY.CLI to MYAPP.INI, then you have to change *all* instances
of IDEPLOY.CLI to MYAPP.INI in the wupdate.sb6 source project and compile a
custom wupdate.exe. Then ship this customized wupdate.exe along with your
    application.

If you are interested, I can add the future request to the wish list.

    Friedrich,

I made all the changes you mention to a copy of wupdate.sb6 which is how I
discovered that IDEPLOY.CLI was always created.

Which means, as you know, that wupdate.exe was looking for MYAPP.INI and
ignoring IDEPLOY.CLI. When I renamed IDEPLOY.CLI to MYAPP.INI all was well.

    So, yes, I am interested.

    Thanks,

    Bob,

Feature added to set the name of the INI file name if the "Store Properties
in INI File" option is enabled in "Install Web Update Client". This will be
    available in the next build.
