Thread: WUpdate cannot locate associated app

  1. #1

Default WUpdate cannot locate associated app

I know this has gone through the subject mill, but I didn't find what I was looking for.

My app uses Arnor's ITRun to call WUpdate. When started I get the "... cannot locate associated application... " error. If I double-click WUpdate, it runs fine.

I have my programs in the Program Files structure and the data files are setup for CSIDL_Common_Documents.

    What am I missing here?

    Using SB7; Testing in XPPro.

    Thank youi.

    Bob,

We don't have Arnor's ITRun so unfortunately, I can't asnwer the question in detail.

wupdate.exe detects its own directory and then (based on this path) tries to find the associated application in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lindersoft\WebUpdate\A ppPaths registry key. If the path/wupdate.exe item is not found in this key, it gives you the "cannot locate associated application" error.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks... I checked the paths and all looks OK. I'll send Arnor a note and if we cannot resolve it, I'll post either a solution or screen dumps of where things sit.
