    Default Serial Numbers

I am starting to investigate searial numbers, subscription keys and the
like. I'd like to start with a question about serial numbers.

It seems that the "Serial Number" in SetupBuilder is a feature to make sure
that only person with a valid SetupBuilder generated serial number can
    install the product.

Most companies have their own user identification numbering system. I simply
    use 1 to 10,000.

So it seems that for me to use the SetupBuilder generated Serial Number I
need to take the exported list of 10,000 generated serial numbers, assign a
number to each indicating which user number it is for, and then supply that
    to the user...correct?

    -OR-

I could just have a list of 20 or so serial numbers and send use then
    randomly.

Am I along the right path here for what it was designed for?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Default Re: Serial Numbers

The latter Michael, for serial numbers anyway. I've done it this way for
over 12 months now, using any one from a list of 10 that SB generated, must
get around to generating some new ones.

Subscription keys can be unique to the customer as they would be date
    dependant.
